Em 2 de novembro de 1852, a Capela do Rio Vermelho foi incorporada à Paróquia de Nossa Senhora da Vitória. Os veranistas, que criaram a Festa de Senhora Sant'Ana (1870) e a Irmandade da Gloriosa Senhora Sant’Ana do Rio Vermelho (1882), também foram os responsáveis pela criação da Paróquia de Sant'Ana do Rio Vermelho. O ato foi assinado em 5 de abril de 1913, por dom Jerônymo Thomé da Silva, arcebispo metropolitano de São Salvador da Bahia e primaz do Brasil.

Com a criação da Paróquia, a Capela de Senhora Sant'Ana foi elevada à condição de Igreja Matriz. E assim permaneceu até a inauguração da nova Matriz, erguida no local onde existiu o Forte do Rio Vermelho, numa das extremidades da Enseada de Santana, na Rua Guedes Cabral. Foi inaugurada em 26 de julho de 1967, dia da Padroeira do Rio Vermelho. 

No ano de 2008, a saga da Família Taboada virou livro. A obra escrita pelo historiador Ubaldo Marques Porto Filho tem 412 páginas.
